Privacy Policy

Work As Tutor (workastutor.com) is operated by Camel STEAM ("we"). This Personal Information Collection Statement explains how we handle personal data under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong.

1. Data we collect

  • Account data: name, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), preferred language.
  • Tutor profile: phone number, districts, subjects, availability, teaching languages, education, experience and introduction.
  • Documents you upload, such as CVs and certificates.
  • Applications: the roles you apply for, cover letters, status history and HR notes.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser information and sign-in records, used for security.

2. Purposes of use

  • Assessing your suitability for tutor and related positions, arranging interviews and making offers.
  • Communicating with you about your account, applications and, if you opt in, new job alerts.
  • Matching you to classes, schools and programmes run by Camel STEAM if you are engaged.
  • Keeping the platform secure and preventing abuse.

Providing data is voluntary, but without the required fields we may not be able to process your application.

3. Transfer of data

Your data is accessed only by authorised Camel STEAM HR and management staff. We use service providers to run the platform, including hosting and email delivery (Google Workspace), who process data on our behalf. We do not sell your personal data or use it for direct marketing by third parties.

4. Retention

Data of unsuccessful applicants is kept for up to 24 months after the recruitment exercise, so we can consider you for other suitable roles, and is then deleted. If you are engaged, your data becomes part of your personnel record. You may ask us to delete your account at any time.

5. Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, documents are stored privately and can only be downloaded by you and authorised HR staff.

6. Access and correction

You may update most of your data in your dashboard. To request access to or correction or deletion of your personal data, contact our Data Protection Officer at hr@workastutor.com.
